Artists are out there capturing the light in all parts of the Northwest. (especially me this year).

Keep an eye out for that easel by the side of the road and approach carefully.

My thanks to the gentlemen who rode by me, and delivered back a cup of coffee.

That's a generous treat.

This collection will be exhibited at my studio.... Cheers!
If you are thinking of ways to enjoy the Summer in the Pacific Northwest and wanted to take a Pastel Painting workshop, this is a great year to do so.

Though my location is the perfect spot for attracting art enthusiasts, students and visiting artists, it's not always picturesque.

What's a plein aire painter to do? Well paint what you can... Cherry Pie of course!!! So I set up the easel, brought out the pie and here are some of the works.

Eventually that turns to the sport of the season.... Baseball.... Right?

January in Seattle affords us a glimpse of spring if you go to the grocery stores or floral shops. Garden daffodils are already pushed up 6" in many parts of the city during this mild winter.

If you are looking to set up a still life to paint or just buying a bouquet, may you find some interesting compositional elements as well as bold bright colors for your floral selection. Trust me they make the winter easier!

This painting along with many others will be available for sale at my Pioneer Square Art Walk, February 6th 5-9pm

In January I created a buying frenzy and have sold over 40 paintings of all different sizes. My goal is to fundraise a trip to Taos, New Mexico for a workshop I hope to attend.

If you've made a purchase already - thank you. If not, come on down. There are lot of gems priced quite reasonably and I think everyone needs an original piece of art in 2014… don't you? See you soon!

I've been remiss in posting for a full year in this location but welcome you to my web site at
www.MorninNoonanNight.com.

Those of you who are familiar with my work may find the following interesting...

I now spend 50-60 hours a week focused on painting and the business promotion of my art career.

I have painted appx. 70 pieces of work this year already and though many have ended up being tossed for poor quality, I'm thrilled with all I've done. What is true for me is that my skills improve the more I paint.

Today I will be outdoors with my student who comes in annually from NY. We will focus on buildings but truthfully, anything that strikes the eye is always good.

Awards continue to come in and sales as well and if there is something you find on my website that tickles your fancy, please let me know.

Happy 4th of July week,

As many of you know, I'm a member of the most prestigious Women Painters of Washington art group and since our gallery is located in downtown Seattle, we get visitors from all over the country and world. 701 Fifth Avenue, Suite 310, Seattle, WA (Inside the Columbia Center Tower).

If you have friends visiting Seattle, they may go to the top of our building, the 73rd floor, and enjoy the observation deck - the highest spot in the city. Be sure to tell them to take the escalator down one more floor to the 3rd level and come visit us.

Currently there are painting from 50 members on exhibit.

On July 17th, a new show will be on exhibit and I have will have some of my more recent work in that show as well. Hope you can make it. We are open 11-4pm M-F.

I bring you a painting of Mount Rainier from last evening. Seattle's good days of warm temps, sunshine till 830pm and views of the mountain inspired this piece. At the lake from 4pm on I was able to wait till the "glow" happened. there were many pieces in addition to this that didn't quite work, but whenever I can paint en plein aire without bugs... or sunburn... I'm a happy artist.
Hi there,

The title of the post refers to the painting which is part of a new series I'm thrilled to be working my way through. I love landscapes and yet I'm finding that like a good author... it's time to head for the haikus and leave dear ol' Michener behind. Much as I truly enjoy all the phases of painting I dive into, this series is truly beckoning.

Most of the comes from my heart to my hand. Thanks for joining me... Barb

SEPTEMBER 2011

In the past month I attended a memorial service for yet another close friend/artist, who’s life was taken far too early. I told myself I’d paint daily or at least attempt to. If not for me, but to see and paint what she won’t be able to....

Since August 4th, I’ve painted, 30 paintings.... many outdoors en Plein Aire (in fresh air) from a dock, a farm, the back of a bowling alley, the back of an urban alley and even at the cow pasture. I’ve experienced bugs, sunburns, wind, listened to jets, eagles, waves and even fog horns.

My scratched legs looks like a 4 yr old with all the black berry bushes I’ve picked through and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve sold 8 paintings and 1 commissioned piece. There are 925 photos for reference images when it starts to rain.

There is something about passion and love in my creative process. I hope you find a bit of both in my work.

Thanks for coming to my studio. Barb Noonan

I miss you Debbie..... Bob.... Shirrell.... Mike.....
